Why You Should Get The Headlight Of The Car Repaired

It is necessary for the vehicle to have a good working condition of headlights. They play a vital role to fight the road ahead at nights. As driving at night is very dangerous, a faulty headlight can further worsen the problem. It becomes difficult for the driver to evaluate the condition of the road without proper illumination. Provided listed below are few of the important factors that will help a person understand about the efficiency of any headlight.

Test can be conducted on a regular basis. Parking the vehicle before a building will be important to test the headlights. Reflection will be created on the wall of the building if they are working fine.

The lights should be turned on and off for a while. This will likely ensure that the headlights are working properly. The light should be replaced if any of the light does not respond quickly.

A similar procedure can be implemented to examine for the efficiency of tail lights. The reflection of your lights can be checked through the help of rear view mirror.

Pressing the brakes will also be important to understand the functioning of tail lights, because the lights respond even to braking system of the vehicle.

Should they be working or otherwise, indicators can also be checked inside the same procedure to see.

It is important to replace the lights with a brand new set if any of the tests reveals in the malfunctioning of your headlight.

Fixing a faulty headlamp

As the defect in the headlight is revealed, it can be time to understand about the kind of headlight the vehicle uses. If the headlight uses halogen bulb for illumination, it is easy to change the bulb by replacing it with an all new one. If no halogen bulb is commonly used, the entire headset should be changed, however.

Process to change the bulb

The wiring of the headlight needs to be removed. The wiring is found under the hood.

In order to sign up for the bulb, the plastic ring present in the backside of the headlamp should be removed.

Rotating the bulb in anticlockwise direction will take it out of the headlight dome.

The newest bulb needs to be carefully placed into the dome and rotated in clockwise direction.

The plastic ring should be now replaced back at the back of the headlamp.

Examination can be performed to check out because of its functionality.

Process to change the headlight

The first process involves removal of tiny screws that secure the headlight towards the metal frame of the car. Careful inspection should be conducted before removing all the screws. Few of the screws will have springs underneath them. Such screws can be left in their position.

All the screws and necessary bolts should be collected carefully.

You can actually pull out the headlight through the metal frame, as the screws are now removed.

A new headlight is then fixed into the metal frame of the vehicle.

The necessary screws and bolts should be replaced back. This will hold the new headlight towards the metal frame of the vehicle firmly.

Examination can be completed to check out for that functionality of the headlight.

Following the above mentioned points and through the help of a simple screwdriver, an individual can easily replace a faulty headlight.

Knowing The Right Things To Do When You Are In A Car Accident

Remain calm and think clearly as you handle the situation.

First, you should call the police, and let them know you may have been involved in a car accident. One thing that assists when disputing an accident has a police accident report of the incident. If a police officer cannot come to the location of the accident, you may still file a state vehicle vehicle accident report at the police station. This will help your insurance company quickly handle the claims process.

Second, sign up for your emergency kit designed for this very purpose. If you don’t now have one, it is possible to put one together. Basic things to include are: apaper and pen, disposable camera, insurance card, first aid materials, and card with medical allergies or some other health conditions you have that may be important for medical teams to know for those who have been seriously injured. Another option is to buy a roadside emergency kit through Amazon, or any other online sources.

Third, in case the accident is minor without having serious injuries you should move your car aside of the road away from oncoming traffic, and set your hazard lights on.

Fourth, if another vehicle is in the accident exchange information using them, including: your address and name, contact number, insurance company, policy number, driver’s license number, and license plate number for both the driver and owner of the vehicle. Be polite, and don’t feel you have to be responsible for the accident at the scene. It seemed to be your fault, but it is advisable to refrain from taking the blame on the scene from the accident.

Fifth, take pictures of your car, as well as almost every other damage which has occurred due to accident to possess documentation.

Once those steps have been taken care of, the next step is to file a claim together with your insurance company. Allstate breaks down the straightforward 4 step process for his or her customers: 1) File your accident claim; 2) gather the facts; 3) resolve the situation by repairing your car; 4) move forward using a happy life. But how do you file a claim? Simply call, use the web, or meet up with your insurance representative face-to-face so they can assist you through the process. Going through the claims process is an essential part of taking care of the accident and putting it behind you. It’s also necessary to plan a vehicle inspection, speak with an adjuster, obtain your car repaired, and followup to view the status of the claim.

CARFAX works with insurance police and companies departments to be informed of every accident they can be. In many cases CARFAX has the capacity to obtain information from these resources, like the accident claim and accident report, among others to determine how serious the accident was. Through these things CARFAX will be able to identify any sort of accident on a vehicle history report asmoderate and minor. Alternatively, severe. These classifications help consumers be better informed of the type of accident a car has been involved in, which will help them determine whether or not they want to purchase that car.

Deciding on a Dodge

Whether you’re a die-hard Dodge fan or are simply jumping in the bandwagon, there are numerous people finding Dodges being good alternatives for new cars today. There are lots of reasons you might want to try one if you’re just starting to become interested in a Dodge.

To start with, Dodge trucks are always regarded as riding incredibly smoothly. The 2011 Dodge truck was the first full-sized pickup to provide coil-spring rear suspension. This improved the truck’s makes and ride it feel like you’re riding within an SUV or car and not merely a pickup truck, which may be notoriously bumpy.

You have four choices in relation to cab size. That is another really great feature of Dodge Ram trucks. It’s becoming a growing number of common today for trucks to do dual purpose as both family cars and work trucks. That means that people buying these vehicles need options in relation to the cab of their pickup. For this reason, Dodge offers many different things. A conventional truck provides the standard bench cab that seats three people. Another choice offers a backseat area that is large enough to support two adults but that may be accessed in the two single doors that the traditional truck has. Next, is a bigger form of a lengthy cab containing double doors, to make the rear seats quicker to access. Then, it offers a “mega cabs” and extended “mega cabs” that both have four doors; the larger of the two can hold larger crews also.

If you’ve decided to get a Dodge and are searching for dodge downey, take a look at McPeek Dodge, or any other authorized dealer, to see what they should offer about the lot today.

Vanquish Will Be Aston Martin DBS’s Successor

The secret of Aston Martin working on a successor for your DBS has long left the most and back of us already know what it’s going to be.

Exactly what is a secret, or rather used to be a secret, is the true name the DBS successor would wear. That was recently unveiled inside a very… British kind of way.

Aston Martin AM310 Concept

It all happened at the UK’s royal jubilee bank holiday but it had nothing to do with the actual event, the dates simply coincided.

The new Aston Martin Vanquish was spotted during transport when, rather carelessly, somebody in charge left the container open.

Whoever had a keen eye and happened to walk by the transporter would’ve easily noticed. Unfortunately for Aston Martin, among those who glanced at the new name was an editor for Car magazine.

Not only did he snap a photograph of the new badge on the back of the Aston Martin V12 coupe, he actually went on to video the back of the car since he closed in on the name.

In other Aston Martin DBS successor news it appears that most reports see the British company debut the new Vanquish at the Pebble Beach event.

That’s scheduled for just over two months from now which may seem like quite the soon affair. The only justification behind that is usually to be found at Aston Martin themselves.

The new DBS successor isn’t all that new regardless of what the British company tries to inform us.

Have You Ever Wondered What Cars Are Running On NBC’s Life

The NBC TV show Life started its second season this week. Life is a very underrated show. Wikipedia says this:

Life centers around Detective Charlie Crews, who at the beginning of the first season (set in 2007) is released from Pelican Bay State Prison after serving twelve years of an existence sentence. In 1995 he was wrongfully convicted of the triple murder of his business partner and his family. Thanks to the efforts of his lawyer Constance Griffiths, DNA evidence exonerates him of your murders. Having lost his job, his wife, his friends, almost all contact with the exterior world and also his grip on reality for a time when in jail, he emerges enlightened by the philosophy of Zen, a fixation with fresh fruits and an obsession with solving the murder that nearly cost him his life and exposing the conspiracy that framed him for doing it. After successfully suing the town of L . A . and the LAPD, he is reinstated to the police force and receives an undisclosed but substantial monetary settlement.

Life is a great show and I appreciate it on a variety of levels. This site is around cars and one of the levels I enjoy Life is its cars, however. Since Detective Charlie Crews received a $50 million settlement in the city he has the ability to purchase some great rides.

The first car we see Detective Crews driving is a Bentley Continental GT Coupe.

Crews spent time crusing around in his Bentley saying he loves this car and saying he is not linked to his car. Unfortuntely among the episodes ends with the Bentley being totaled by a tractor. I was crushed to see this sort of fine automobile crushed.

However, the next time we notice Charlie Crews driving a car it is this.

A Buick Grand National. Someone attached to this show has great taste in cars. It looks such as that the people behind Life don’t want just a single car attached to their main character. In the previews for next week notice a glimpse of Detective Crews’ next car, a Maserati. Stay tuned for additional cool cars on Life.

Best Cars to Come Out of France

France is not primarily known for its automotive industry. When it does make cars, it tends to make little city cars, quite sleek in design but not necessarily top in performance. Some people like them, some do not. The truth is that oftentimes there are better alternatives available. However, that is not to say that no good cars have ever come out of France. In fact, the country has been responsible for quite a lot of great cars.

1. Citroen DS

The DS is a very polarizing vehicle – most people either love it or hate it. Surely, in its native France the DS is beloved and considered a car of the people. In other parts of the world, though, the DS receives more mixed reactions and almost all of them are due to the design. It is not bad in any way, but it is very different. Like other great French cars, the best way to describe the look of the DS is avant-garde.

2. Citroen 2CV

Everything said about the DS applies ten times more to the 2CV. Again, some people consider it a bit ugly but it played for France the role that the Beetle played for Germany. While not everyone likes how it looks, they cannot deny its important legacy.

3. Bugatti Veyron

Including the Veyron on a list of French cars is controversial and confusing to say the least. Here is why: originally, Bugatti was a French automaker, but the name causes some confusion because the founder, Ettore Bugatti, was an Italian living in France. As if that wasn’t enough, today Bugatti is owned by Volkswagen, a German group so the Veyron is only part French, but it is without a doubt one of the greatest cars ever made.

Automotive Internet Roundtable Face Social Networking For Dealers Panel At 2009

Each fall J.D. Associates and Power hosts an Automotive Internet Roundtable that literally brings together skilled professionals and thought leaders to go over how the Internet can be better leveraged to market and sell more cars.

Through the 2007 Roundtable event, lots of folks were asking why aren’t dealers social networking. A couple of years later, nowadays there are thousands of dealers participating in some type of social network. In this year’s Roundtable, the conversation should give attention to whether dealers are using social networks effectively.

J.D. Power Automotive Internet Roundtable

The J.D. Power 2009 Automotive Internet Roundtable is going to take place on Oct. 14-16, 2009 at the Red Rock Resort and Spa in Las Vegas.

I will be moderating such a panel in this year’s Automotive Internet Roundtable in Vegas. The topic is “Social Networking: Should it be More About Relationship Building than Selling Cars? ” and the premise:

A large number of the car dealers now on Twitter and Facebook use their status updates to list out inventory. The real value in joining these social media sites may be the ability to create relationships with both customers and colleagues alike, however.

This panel will take care of:

• OEMs and dealerships who are using social networks effectively

• Possibilities to build relationships with current customers and potential rewards (increased visits forreferrals and repair, etc.)

• Advantages of connecting with fellow dealers (information sharing/collaboration, etc.)

Joining me on the panel will be a amount of thought practitioners and leaders inside the digital automotive space. These are:

Christopher Barger, Director of Social Media, General Motors (@cbarger and @GMblogs)

Jared Hamilton, CEO and Founder, Drivingsales.com (@drivingsales)

Tom Chisholm, Midwest Sales Director, Facebook

Eric Miltsch, IT-Web Director, Auction Direct USA (@AuctionDirect)

Ralph Paglia, Director of Digital Marketing, ADP Dealers (@ralphpaglia)

Janet Eden-Harris, VP Marketing, Web Intelligence division of J.D. Power (@JDPowerWebIntel)

Prior to the panel, I am going to be working with all the other panelists and AIR organizers to start out some conversation around this topic. Try to find additional updates on this topic on Headlightblog.com

Top Tips for Greener Driving

We all have to do everything we can to stretch our bucks a little bit further these days – waiting for the seasonal sales and clipping coupons to get the best deals around. The problem is that gas is unlikely to ever go on sale so we have to be a little more inventive to get the most out of our gas dollar. If you can’t save money on buying your gas then you’ll just have to learn how to drive more economically and make the gas you put into your car get you further down the road.

Of course, how much you can save largely depends upon your driving style to start with but some drivers can save more than 40% of their gas by utilizing these greener driving tips – maybe even more than 45%. These tips are not only great for your bank balance but they also make a big difference to the environment – what a bonus.

Dump the junk – one of the reasons why a large SUV uses more fuel than a smaller car is down to the extra weight – carrying excess baggage around in your trunk with you everywhere you go can make a significant difference to your gas consumption. Take off your ski rack unless you’re going skiing, ditch the golf clubs unless you are on your way to the golf course – for every 100 pounds of junk your car is carrying around your fuel motor will lose around 2% of its fuel economy.

Look after your tires – tires not only make your car handle safely they also make a big difference to fuel economy. Make sure that your tires are inflated to the correct pressures as recommended for your type of vehicle. Underinflated tires use more gas, it’s as simple as that.

Drive smoothly – slamming your foot hard on the accelerator and emergency braking might be fun and make you feel like a race car driver but it is also a very inefficient way to drive. Every time you start, stop and accelerate in your car is has to battle inertia – resistance to the movement – and that takes energy – gas is energy therefore you use less gas if you drive smoothly and carefully (it’s also more comfortable for your passengers).

Reduce your speed – driving smoothly is one thing but it also helps if you drive at the optimum speed. The optimum speed for fuel efficiency is around 60 mph (according to experts) and for every 5 mph you go over that speed it reduces your fuel efficiency by 6 per cent. Bear that in mind next time you head out on a road trip.

Buy a fuel efficient car – older cars are generally less fuel efficient, especially as many motor manufacturers are now working hard to increase the fuel efficiency of even larger SUV’s etc. If you’re looking for an alternative for your old Dodge San Juan Capistrano has some great offers – and many newer Dodges have better fuel consumption than older models.

Car pooling – is another alternative to driving everywhere. Buddying up on a car journey not only saves everybody fuel but also means less cars (and hence congestion) on the roads. If two or three people live in the same area and travel to the same place for work it can make a huge difference to their pockets.

Check out the fabulous selection of cars at OC Auto for some fantastic models with excellent fuel economy – and if you drive them right you’ll get even more miles for your dollar.

Weekly Open Thread For February 17

It’s hard to picture what today’s teenagers will wax nostalgic about thirty years from now when they reminisce about their first car. (It required gasoline, perhaps? ) Who is familiar with how automobiles will change down the road; what we do know is how different they are today from 30 or more years ago. If you fondly remember being surrounded by two or three tons of solid Detroit steel with a whip antenna on the front from where you could tie a raccoon tail or adorn with an orange Union 76 ball, and enough leg room that you didn’t suffer from phlebitis on long road trips, then you can also miss some of these.

Among them: The bench seat, ash trays, and vent windows. I really like some of these. Bench seats are really passé sad to say, although I’m not sure why I believe that; they were never very comfortable along with their sole saving grace was the ability to fit three passengers in the front seat and um, being somewhat more amenable to a particular amorous adventures).

I rather miss vent windows as well. I’m not sure why they aren’t made anymore, it seems to me to be a really ideal way of letting a little bit of air in without the noise of opening the whole window, if even a crack. Plus you could direct the air flow right in your face. I suppose these people were probably costly to produce and you can get almost the same effect from adjustable air vents.

Ash trays I never had a use for, never having found the habit m’self. Ditto the ‘cigarette lighter’ which most younger folk now might now just refer to like a DC connector or something.

Missing from the list? Are there any real hub caps anymore? I’ve seen a couple of plastic ones that even have fake bolts molded into them, nevertheless i haven’t noticed any true metal hub caps lately (not that I’ve really been looking). I don’t think there are way too many whitewall tires around either. And of course we here at Car Lust have told the history of the missing cassette player.

Anything else that seems to have disappeared from the automotive landscape? And feel free to discuss anything else useful.

Through All The Challenges, I Love My Truck

I wouldn’t be sold on replacing the engine just yet.

For some reason, old Fords tend to have more idling issues than any other manufacturer I see at the auctions. They can be a pain to track down, but that that doesn’t necessarily mean that the engine is on it’s last legs. It just means that you or your mechanic is going to have fun tracking down vacuum hoses and a long, long line of other diagnostic possibilities. If you want to do this yourself I would strongly recommend buying up the Alldata information for your F150.

As for the start-up noise, that can be a variety of things. However if the timing chain and guides haven’t been replaced at this point, that may very well be your noise at start-up. I see a lot of Explorers, Rangers and F150s with this issue, and it can require the removal of the engine in order to properly replace the chain and guides.

Let’s assume for now that you have a truck that now drinks, smokes and hangs out with the bad boys. If your engine is as wore out as an old mop then you definitely need to take a tour through the automotive scenery of the nearby auto recycling centers.

First go to car-part.com. Since the 5.0 Liter V8 was only offered for two years on the F150, you will only have about 1000 of them to choose from. The going price will be around $500. However, I would strongly advise that you buy a new water pump, a chain and guide replacement set, and take the time to replace any hoses that may be in need of attention. Especially in those areas where hoses can be near impossible to reach.

This engine is easy to install but time consuming. Would I rebuild it? Not unless you have the time and some serious achievements when it comes to DIY work. You can get a nice rebuild done that would give you more power. But you are looking at north of $1500 for it to be done right.

I prefer durability upgrades (a.k.a. relying on enthusiast forums for guidance and getting a transmission cooler) and stock engines instead of mods when it comes to older trucks. There also may be an opportunity to get the VIN number for the engine that interests you online and find out if it was regularly serviced at the dealership through a Carfax history. Ones that have been serviced at the dealerships will at least be given a quality oil filter and the recommended oil weight. Although with an older vehicle this information gets to be a bit scanty.
